apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Frèdèric Mèchiche's Marais Loft

We've blogged about designer Frèdèric Mèchiche's apartment before, but loved this collection of additional photos from his Marais loft that Door Sixteen put together (see the Apartment Therapy tour of her home here)

This home is exactly our fantasy of what a Paris loft should be. Our favorite aspect is that daybed with the cross pillows. The stripped floors are pretty awesome too. We love the seamless integration of styles. It's something that be difficult to achieve in reality, but it's done so well in this apartment by limiting the color palette to black, white, and silver tones. What's your favorite aspect of the loft?

See more photos from Door Sixteen.

It's Frédéric, not Frèdèric. Seriously - how hard can it be to copy-paste and proof-read?!

I rarely like the way that sculpture is integrated into a personal living space, but this is certainly an exception. All the art and design elements are cohesive - what a beautiful space!

Oh, oh! LOVE that pillow. Is that a classic motif of his? I noticed it was on the blanket in the previous post.

I love the lack of color in this space! It's very dramatic!

Those cross pillows immediately made me think "medical emergency"!

Still, to each their own... ;)

theresaclare: The black & white sculpture is by Jean Dubuffet. Méchiche’s art collection is quite impressive!

Suzyn: The cross blanket in the previous post is by Pia Wallén. The cross illustration in the bedroom is by Jean-Pierre Raynaud. The pillows, however, appear to be the work of (or inspired by) Joseph Beuys. If you read the comments on my original post, there is some discussion of the medicinal cross motif as it occurs in art and design.
