House-Truck Home by Heather and Ivan Morison

Here's a work of art that's not for display above your mantel — it's a fully operational home-on-wheels that's modern, rustic and ready to hit the open road.

Heather and Ivan Morison are two artists currently living and working in Wales. Their latest venture is titled Tales of Space and Time for which they converted a decommissioned firetruck into a self-sufficient wooden house-truck.

The project was meant to capture an optimistic notion of surviving the end of the world. Because who says you have to do so in a cold, damp underground bunker? The truck contains a stove, potted plants, even a library. No word on miles per gallon.

love it! all the book nooks are very sweet, but would be filled with yarn and plants in my version. (books too, but also an e-reader for space saving)

Holy wow that is beautiful. The outside lies about the inside.

I have been thinking and dreaming a lot about a tiny house, but never dreamed one could be so well designed. The tiny houses I have seen so far are cute, but this is above and beyond.

Thanks for sharing it AT.

VERY cool space! Love the colored glass windows! I could totally envision a roadtrip in this lovely vehicle (though I shudder to think about the mpg).

If this were ever to be your full time home, you'd have to be good with an egine. Just imagine dropping it off at a shop if the engine broke down- you'd be living in the shop!

That is so nicely laid out for a small space. You have everything you need...the wood is beautiful and the stained glass window is a very nice touch! I'm really impressed! There will be some great road trips in that vehicle.

What an adorable little home. It's like something from a modern fairytale. The library is full of "apocalypse-themed fiction" by the way. Not exactly soothing stuff.

Did you know:

The base vehicle they modified is a "Green Goddess" - used during the Blitz as fire tenders. The Queen (of England) was in the corps that was involved in maintenance of these vehicles - so yes, she knows her way around it's engine! :-)

There's somebody on our island living in an even smaller gypsy wagon version of this concept. I find the idea lovely but our vintage Airstreams feel roomier.
