Inspiration from French Stylist Camille Soulayrol

French stylist and author Camille Soulayrol creates inspirational vignettes for Marie-Claire Idées. We loved the rustic coat tree (above). Wouldn't it make a good DIY?

• 1 Rustic Coat Tree
• 2 Love this muted palette. It would fit right in with Jeanine's Robin Egg Blue round-up.
• 3 We're sort of digging this wall paneling, but would need certainly need the right interior.
• 4 We've seen this wood disc wall treatment before and Martha Stewart has a how-to.
• 5 Perhaps this is the solution to our puppy lust—papier mâché (or is that a stuffed animal?). We're digging the bookcase, which remind us of Klein Reid's Bisque Books.

Dang, why does everything look better when done by the French? Is it genetic or a requirement for citizenship?

I love the second photo! I'm a sucker for rustic interiors. I just fetured an 1800 farmhouse on my blog with amazing exposed beams in the bedrooms. These looks would work really well in that house.

The same thing (in a bigger scale) is done @ Anthropologie in the Rockefeller Center.

They put photos in between the branches and is simply gorgeous.

Magnificent! I don't even like rustic but I love the coat rack. I'm seeing it as a great counterpoint in a sleek modern space. A functional art piece. Yes, it could be a fun DIY; you could travel around the world and collect just the right scraps of weathered wood.

Oh for a life free of poverty...

The coat rack is amazing. Kinda want to do since I think it'll look great in my studio apt. Might make a good focal point. I see that they have those big hooks that looks similar to a gigantic nail. Where could I get those in the la area?

I'm a retired photo stylist, TV commercial prop master, set decorator.

Here is a better idea. Instead of this mess on your wall,
Use small pieces of naturally interesting shaped tree branches and attach to the wall for coat hooks.
Use as cabinet pulls.

Use children's hard plastic toys attached to the wall as hooks.

Endless amount of clever DIY if you have the time and patience.

The rustic coat tree looks good due in part to the setting, the styling, the lighting and photography.

Now, place this treatment in a 1970's era apartment with rental beige walls and carpet and it pretty much won't look so hot.
