We've recently found ourselves captivated by the work of sculptor Jason Meadows, who works primarily with found and recognizable objects, often using pieces of abandoned furniture...

Jason was born in Chicago, the son of antique and curio enthusiasts, and cites many influences — Brancusi, Charles and Ray Eames — people often thought of as designers before they are thought of as sculptors or artists.

The recognizable forms of discarded furniture in these pieces, and the ways in which they are reformed and repurposed give us that contagious feeling of wanting to make something from scraps on hand; a definite inspiration in a troubled economic climate.

The "chair with coat rack" looks like an electric chair. I like the looking glass, though.
