Inspiration: Movable Pendant Light Hack

A few weeks ago we rounded up some pendant lamps that had a similar shape to the Caravaggio Pendant Lamps by Cecilie Manz. The least expensive option was IKEA's MELODI and a post on ikeahacker shows MELODI turned into a movable pendant lamp perfect for a workspace...

While there aren't specific instructions, the hacker used a ceiling-mounted curtain rail like IKEA's KVARTAL. Cool! Via: ikeahacker.

I bought this lamp a while back as a placeholder for a more expensive one I was going to get, but I was really so impressed with it that I kept it! Despite the $20 price tag, personally I don't reallly think it looks cheap, and I've actually gotten a lot of compliments on it.

That is a great idea that i might consider using! My condo has a light socket on the ceiling that is placed in the oddest place (not directly in the middle of the room) and depending on the time of day, i need light in certain areas (ie. if i'm reading at night, or working on the pc).

I have this light and I love it, but like the light in this picture, it doesn't quite hang level. I've tried everything (weights on top, weights clipped to the high side). It is driving me nuts!

Brilliant! This is an example of why i still bother with AT. Good, inexpensive, solutions are what this site should be about. It seems like AT has drifted away from this lately and am so excited that there is still someone willing to put together some innovative ideas for their posts. Thank you!
