Look! Plasti Dip Rubber Coating

Shawn Henderson, eBay's Design Director for Home Decor, has prepared a fun video demonstrating some creative uses for Plasti Dip. Designed to give tool grips a functional, non-slip coating, Plasti Dip can be re-purposed for decorative uses like holiday decorations, stemware, and bringing new life to slightly damaged home accessories...

We'd like to use it to cover up nicks, chips and scratches in a ceramic dish, or keep the base of an old lamp from scratching the table. Check out Shawn's eBay blog and his interior design portfolio for more inspiration.

From what I've heard from my friend who used this stuff for some art projects, this stuff is really really toxic, and you get sick breathing in the fumes.

...but I still want to coat my old couch in it so I can make it waterproof and put it on the patio.

Yea! Now those branches will look tacky and won't biodegrade! Perfect!

I second kmswann's warning - do not use this stuff in an enclosed or only semi-ventilated space and don't stick around while it's drying. It's much more potent than paint or liquid latex (rubber) or polyurethane.

If I remember correctly, his apartment was featured in a design mag a few months ago, and for some reason, I believe he talked about his partner, a man. So, ladies, he's gay, and gay guys, he's taken! (He had a great apartment, too.)

It bothers me that people are so quick to hop on the not earth friendly bandwagon... as if the trash can and a landfill are the only options for unused/unloved/unwanted items.

Giving them to someone who could use some help with some home decor taste is always an option... I say it's a great way to snazz up a few objects around the house for a pop of color when Spray painting can be sometimes difficult.
