My own personal color combination obsession lately has been lavender and the color of a bosc pear. It can't just be purple and yellow — which is a lovely combination, but not exactly what I am looking for.

I could even vary from not-yet-completely-golden bosc pear to a greenish-tinged-yellow or even an olive green. As for the lavender, it can ease towards pink (just a tad) but ideally stay within a definite purple tone. I don't actually want to paint my walls with these colors, just get furniture and accessories that go well together using these color ideas. Does anyone else have a difficult time with pinpointing the exact shade of color you like? Do you ever make up your own color names? I'm getting quite fond of bosc pear as the name of my new favorite color.

That purple wall is gorgeous. I've been debating doing a dark purple in my bedroom but wasn't sure if a purple with a lot of a red hue would come off too 1980's "cartoonish." It certainly looks real-world in your home - bold and vibrant but also very contemporary. Nice!

I have that first picture in my Flickr inspiration set, that pale pale lavender rug is to die for. I still wonder where it is from?

I love the lanterns hanging in a row like that. What a great creation for a corner somewhere.

Love the hanging white lantern. Anyone know where you can buy this, or similar?

i like this post. We just moved, and purple (while not my fav) was clearly a winner in the previous owner's eyes. I've already re-painted a purple bath, kitchen, and dining room (ceilings too). It wasn't nearly as elegant as these though! Even now though, I'm realizing that all/most of the plants bloom purple!! crazy!! And since I'm not about to rip out the whole front yard, I'm learning to love..
