Modern, Family –Friendly New York Apartment
Martha Stewart Living

This month's Martha Stewart Living features the beautiful modern family home of Jennifer Chused, a partner at DwellStudio. Considering their stylish product, it is no surprise her apartment is a polished and well put together assemblage of old and new.

Jennifer designed the young but elegant playroom to double as a guest bedroom and coordinated the DwellStudio for the Shade Store shades with storage bins made out of the same fabric. In both the kitchen and the dining room, I love the way DwellStudio's new line of table linens and aprons compliment the graphic rugs.

For more information and pictures, go to Martha Stewart.com or check out the September issue of Martha Stewart Living on newstands now.

I'm in love with the vintage furnishings in the dining room and bedroom...

A very nice apartment, but a bit too show-roomy for me. Everything is just so, and trendy, with little personality.

That has got to be a 4M dollar apartment. It's easily a classic six, maybe even a classic eight.

Please show us things less obnoxious.

why is it obnoxious? because you can't afford it? learn what you can from the owner's design choices and then move on. there's no need to be ugly.

Charming. Yes, it's obviously staged, but who wouldn't stage their home for a photo shoot? There are so many nice little details, but the end effect isn't too precious or fussy. I particularly like the place settings on the dining table, the collection of plane prints, and the diamond-patterned shades.

I would love it if she would tell us the color of those blue/green walls. Very calming and serene.

Those prints in the bedroom are AWESOME.

And PS, what do you expect from a Martha Stewart photo shoot?

I think it's tasteful, if a bit ordinary. And I have no idea what "classic 6" or "classic 8" means but this does not look like a $4 million apartment to me. It's not showy or over-the-top, nor does it look that large. In any event, we have seen plenty of "obnoxious" on this site but I really don't think this qualifies in any way.

I do like how much of the valuable kitchen storage space has been used for wine. To me, that says more about the home's family-friendliness than anything else in these shots!

I love the wooden head in the kitchen. Anyone know where I can find it?

MarthaStewart.com website says the head was from a flea market.

"A classic six" is a 6-room apartment in a pre-war building: living room, dining room, two bedrooms, maid's room, and bathroom. They are very pricey because they're highly sought-after, but there aren't many available.

The picture of the family playing together makes me laugh. You know that kid is capable of more destruction than what the photo represents. The woman's like, "Please! Not in front of Martha!"

I'm loving those framed prints. I think the home is lovely and can only be considered obnoxious by people who aren't so proud of their own home!

I am in love with this. Fresh, open space that gives the family plenty of room to play on the soft rugs and resilient furniture. I looked at the pictures before reading any text and was thinking, "Wow....they sure like Dwell products."

I guess I love obnoxious!

I love how awkward the mom's arms are in the photo with the baby. :)

Great apartment.

I guess the apartment is nice, however in Texas it would be marginally charming. Nothing there excites me and it seems bland and quite small.

@larchgirl, responding a little late here, but it's not a pictogram, it's phonics for young kids.

Long /i/ sound: slide, pie, five, tire, nine, knife, light, fly.
Short /i/ sound: pig, six, stick, ring, ship, pin, hill, bridge.

For whatever reason, they magnified a flash card, or maybe salvaged this poster from a school. Just speculating, but perhaps they have a southerner in the family they're trying to mock or educate. :)
