Eye Candy. I've been away in China for over a week with little access to any form of media in English. Now I'm trying to shake some major jet lag and I can't tear myself away from The New York Times and the recent T: Style Magazine. While I get re-acquainted with the web, check out the spaces in this slideshow...
I'm especially fond of the space John Slavin has made for himself in Malibu Canyon (above). The 800-square-foot house has no heating or air conditioning and three of the four exterior walls have steel doors that roll up, exposing the property to the open air. So cool!

For me, Surfer Dude's place looks the most inviting and comfortable.
Texas one looks too bare, and the NYC one looks too stiff (as if it tried too hard for perfection).

I've always wondered about the houses that open up like that. What happens if an animal gets inside. Even just bugs would be enough for me to rethink a house where the walls just roll up like that.
And living in that house at the top all by myself would seem really lonely. But that's me I guess.

Surfer dude's house looks like a "Butler building" (or similar), which are typically used for small- to medium-sized commerical/industrial use.

The only space that hit my button was the Hollywood Hills house. While I usually disdain lucite, the see-through chair is just perfect in that spot in front of the die-for views.
