Pumpkin Carving Inspiration from Martha (Plus the Death Star!)

Pumpkin carving never fails to inspire me — even when I don't really plan on buying my own pumpkin to carve, I eventually give in cause I get so inspired by all the other pumpkins I see! Basic jack o'lantern grins can vary greatly and there are a multitude of other ideas out there for the skilled carver or the novice.

I personally think Martha Stewart has some of the best ideas so I've rounded up my favorites from her gallery. I also came across a completely different site that shows how to turn your pumpkin into the Death Star! May the force be with you on your carving adventures!

Does anyone know the name of the white pumpkins? I think they look so stunning when carved. Thanks!

according to my DD's coloring book the white pumpkin is called Casper. We've made the "mice motel" pumpkin this year - easy and cute. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31170044@N06/4020080449/

Great stuff - reminds me of ExtremePumpkins.com (the guy who runs it - Tom Nardone - has a few books of pumpkin carving projects, pretty crazy).

@LydiaKutko

I believe the white pumpkins are actually called Lumina Pumpkins. They are white on the outside and orange on the inside - really neat looking!

Pumpkins also come in BLUE (Australian blue) and RED (Cinderella or Rouge D'Etant). But most likely you'd have to grow your own if you want one of those.

Last year I made a Tiki pumpkin, first time carving too! Since I'm from New Zealand, i was new to this whole carving thing - we dont really do it downunder (also since its the opposite hemisphere and pumpkins are a little hard to come by...) but check it out!!

inti - your tiki pumpkin is very cute! My daughter is in NZ for a year and is very sad that there are no pumpkins to carve - but she LOVES NZ.
