You surely will recognize the work of designers Linda Wary and John Meyers of Wary Meyers. The design duo's work has been featured in Domino, Time Out New York and have even shown up in our inspirational feature, Roomarks. They get all of their materials from garage sales and flea markets and The New York Times follows them as they shop around their home in Portland, Maine...

The Wary Meyers aesthetic embraces mid-century modern and danish design (check out their popular Painted Eames Shell Chair) but the pair creates many of their own designs using salvaged parts. The table above is made from a Tulip chair base they purchased for $1 and a slab of wood they got for $5.

An Ib Kofod Larsen plywood chair for $45 is an amazing find. Although instead of doing a straight refinish/reupholstery job on it I would turn it into a rocking chair by adding runners.

Yay, go Wary Meyers! I find them so inspirational. I LOVE them. I dream daily of stripey orange fabric in brownstones with mantels in Brooklyn. Or just making the best and most fun use of whatever wherever you are. Easy shelves, coming up.

ditto, Sale Rack. I thought the stools auctioned at Housing Works were so cool I bought a set. I'm going to have family and friends personalize them.

I mean, I bought a set of plain Aalto-style stools. We'll carve into them and draw on them, and then I'll give them an antique finish to look like old school furniture, as Wary Meyers did. If you haven't seen the stools, a photo can be found on the TONY website.
