"The Textile Blog" by John Hopper

Textile and interior history buffs rejoice! We'll admit to being slightly overwhelmed when we first discovered John Hopper's aptly named The Textile Blog several months back. Since that time, he has continued to post almost daily missives, not only about textile and surface design, but craft and decor movements as well...

John's writing is filled with detailed histories and fascinating stories that touch on everything from obscure 19th Century design exhibitions to the various uses of 1970s vinyl floor tile.

In addition to his blog, John also maintains a massive, well organized library of images via Flickr. Of particular interest is his "Interior Design" collection, sorted by decade.

What a great resource, Keehnan! Dis-order-ed is way ahead of me, because all my scanned images are still sitting on my desktop, and when ever I need to add one of them to a post, I have to upload it to a storage site. But this archive not only includes all my favorite linoleum ads from the 192Os, it also has a ton of images from some great design history books which are long out-of-print and whose pages I never got around to scanning in the first place. Now, it's all been done. Thanks to dis-order-ed for doing a ton of hard work and also to you, for sharing your discovery. M.

Why? Why? Why? I had plans to get things done today, and with the first look at The Textile Blog they went up like smoke! Oh well, I'll have a much more fun afternoon. . . .
