What's the Color of the Moment?

In looking at all these submissions as well as around town, we are forced to wonder.... (ps. wish we could have lined up color names with the voting bars, but didn't see them until the voting started).

I've been (pleasantly) surprised to see how many people out there are embracing orange!

The upholstery on my orange chairs is removeable which is what gave me the confidence to go with that color in the first place -- I knew I could change my mind later. 4 years later, I still love them (although I do worry a little about what colors I'll be able to introduce 5 years from now to shake things up.)

I've been surprised by the strong presence of ornages in this contest, although one entry features orange that seems to have been going strong fo 35 years, if I understood the post/thread correctly!

The orange is a little surprising, since the reatillers that get frequently get blamed here for the homogenization of American design haven't been showcasing orange in such large quantity that I've noted. Fascinating how/where trends start...

Semi-related to color trend discussion... this is the first Autumn retail season I can remember where Teal (albeit grayed, deep and dark) is in amongst the rusts and pumpkins. Love it. When I convert my front closet to built-in office, I think the back wall is going to be that color... a sort of "peacock at dusk" look.

P2, there's a post waiting for you on the noodle bra thread....

I am drawn to orange hues even though I avoided them like the plague growing up (it's that redhead thing again). Now I embrace the color. I agree with the hints of that deep, dusty teal color mixed in among the warmer autumn tones. I love that shade (and just bought yarn that color last night - perhaps a pillow will come from it). p(2), I'm hoping you will post photos of the built-in office project - I'd like to see how that color scheme works for you. (PS - Feeling ok today? You generally aren't the typo-type)

Well based on this contest orange certainly seems the winner of the moment, but personally I'm leaning more toward greens lately and I still have an affection for reds. Have always found yellow very cheery and if I had a bigger space would want to incorporate it as well.

i LOVE orange, and happy to see it's taking the lead. it's such a rejuvinating color. my most recent ode to orange was the purchase of two fabulous tacky orange ceramic hippos!

I've been loving that dusty/dusky teal color this season! I started to paint a wall that color years ago and chickened out. I think the shade just was not dusty enough, the wall was too big and my teak furniture looked too orange against it (nothing wrong with orange but the contrast was alarming for me.) I like how it looks with dark brown though. P2, I bet you would get it right, I'd love to see photos too.
