apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Dress up your Dishwasher
ApplianceArt.com

Ever thought your dishwasher was too…appliance colored? Well now you can give your kitchen an update in the time it takes to peel a sticker.

Appliance Art makes vinyl wraps in TONS of colors and patterns. Check out their site for everything from art inspired wraps to an Obama edition. Because who wouldn’t want the President of the United States helping out with the dishes?

The wraps are available in adhesive backing, static cling or a magnet for those commitment phobes.

$40 a wrap, and an additional $10 for custom orders (for that photo of Grandma).

Right now it looks like the wraps are only available for dishwashers.

If you're going to update your kitchen, I'd say buy stainless, not a stick on (I don't really see how adding a zebra sticker updates anything!) AND it brings attention to something you typically like to have blend!

To me this is one of those "it seems like a good idea on paper" kind of things. I want one that is reversible: On one side Obama is telling me "These are Clean" and on the other "These are Dirty!"

Not into this, which isn't surprising bec. I'm not into dishwashers in general (gave mine away and put a chest of drawers in its place). But if I DID have a DW and wanted to change its appearance, I'd probably use paint instead of a sticker/wrap.

I want a beach scene that looks like one of the default backgrounds supplied by Microsoft. Oh wait, I don't even own a dishwasher...

Ha, the zebra isn't even a zebra print. It's a photo of an actual part of a real zebra. I can't explain why that's so funny to me, but I tell ya, it makes it about 100 times worse.

I defended the garage door covers (giant alligator - hee hee!), and I'll defend these! Those funny ones, the crazy ones? If you're the type of person to put it up, you're the type of person I'd like to hang out with!

And, since I'm not sure I have the guts, I might go with one of the patterned styles. Really cool! I'm covering the cheap-looking plastic front of a white dishwasher, so why not? Since when were plain (non-stainless) dishwashers pretty?

Kitchy....as long as you don't take it so seriously. I would use some of the funny ones to lighten up a dinner party.

This is like the post about the drawers as shelves. To me it's a great idea theoretically, but the execution is fug.

lab director--don't hold your breath. :)

As much as I like our president, I don't want him on my dishwasher any more than you do. Oh wait--I don't have a dishwasher.

These look like a lot of fun. There's no reason to be too serious in the kitchen and these look like they'd keep things light hearted.

Our rental kitchen is so fugly anyway (no painting or updating allowed) that I would do this for the remaining time (hopefully, about 12 months) that we are here. I would embrace the fug to distract me from the odd set-up, lack of usable storage, and total lack of ANY ventilation. Granted, it wouldn't work in my old apartment with its beautiful kitchen, but in the trauma of the horror of the now, yes, please let me plaster my fuggo earth-killing, energy-sucking dishwasher with a zebra.

i like the idea behind them, and some of the designs on the site are actually ok (although some are really awful). but i'd rather spend $5 on a roll of patterned contact paper that can cover both a dishwasher and fridge than shell out $40 for one of these.

although i must admit, that poorly cropped version of the last supper is calling to me...

You guys are funny. Sometimes things don't have to be taken so seriously. It has been done as a light-hearted take on life. Do you really think there was supposed to be an Obama themed or old lady themed kitchen that someone would take seriously? I think you guys seem to be pretentious in your decorating and walking into your places probably lacks serious comfort. My mother was a professional decorator and she had rooms we weren't allowed to enter. Both you and she have seriously misinterpreted what “living space" means. Go back to your museums and let the less pretentious class have their fun.
