Best Products: Mini Stainless Dish Rack

Dish racks can be so ugly and - often - too big for small New York kitchens. We went looking for one that was simple, super compact and attractive enough to live with in our new kitchen and we found this mini rack, which we consider pretty darn near perfect for its size...

Made of stainless steel and coming in three pieces, we use it for all our daily dishes and it keeps us honest by making us put things away before reloading. It is also small enough for us to stow away completely if we ever have guests coming over and want to clear the decks. We found it at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20.

I have this GREAT dishrack from williams sonoma that I got on clearance for like $10 that fits INSIDE the sink ( with adjustable legs to fit different sized sinks ) that I really love and is really useful for my tiny kitchen. I really didn't want to give up any counter space. I got it at their outlet store -they don't seem to have the exact one on their website but this one looks pretty cool too ( but not adjustable )

I have the exact same toaster! It's a 58 yrs. old (parent's shower gift) Toastmaster and my mother keeps telling me she can't believe she gave me the best toaster she ever had. She's right - best toaster ever.

Oh, the dishrack - yeah, that's nice, too.

btw, the mini rack fits in that dead space most people with corner sinks have behind the faucet.

I always thought metal would cause the dishes to chip more than rubber coated metal. Am I correct?

I used to have a metal dish rack and it was very slippery, my plates and glasses always slipped around. I used it for about 2 days and realized it was too dangerous!

We just finished our kitchen reno and we bought that dishrack last week for those times when we just want to rinse a few things instead of running the dishwasher :) It also happen to fit inside our deep undermount d-shaped sink so we just leave it in there whenever possible to keep the countertop clear.

I've had that exact dish rack for the past four years! It is such a life saver for tiny kitchens and works extremely well. You'll love it!

I picked up a flat, slotted wood bread cutting board from Ikea and repurposed it as a drying rack. I sealed the wood (to prevent rot and mildew buildup) and it sits on a nice stainless base. Total profile is only about 1/2 inch off the counter, and water drains away into the sink.

I'm a huge fan of the Container Store's in-sink metal dish rack, which sits... you guessed it! in the sink, suspended from the edges of the sink.

With a single sink, it was a race of agility to get the dishes clean and into the rack before the soapy water in the bottom of the sink hit the clean dishes -- but it could be done.

I know there was a discussion about dish racks a while ago on AT and I recall someone describing their dish rack that folds down from ABOVE the sink (rather than using up counter space). Does anyone have a picture or link for this?

Ashley, the dish rack that folds down above the sink is part of the IKEA Grundtal kitchen accessories series.

I can't find a picture of it in the IKEA USA website but here's the link to the IKEA Sweden website:

Thank you so much gdragon! I had a feeling it was from Ikea, but I just looked through the whole catalogue and didn't see it. I guess this explains why.

My boyfriend and I have a minuscule kitchen. After a long and fruitless search for a dishrack that would fit in a tiny space on the left of the sink, we gave up and used one that was too large, barely fit, but at least didn't take up the only counter space we had.

Solution?

Japan! On our trip there, in the 300yen store (that's like $3 store - there's also a 100 yen store, and both are heaven) there was the tiniest, prettiest dishrack. For $3. Priceless...
