Who needs granite? Trendir has a great roundup of seven contemporary kitchen designs from Italian company Ernestomeda. Though each is fun to dream about, we especially love the simplicity and sleekness of the Solaris Worktop. Seamless Corian makes up the workspace, sinks and backsplash/shelf...

Uggh.
Why would anyone want something so stark and cold as the Solaris in a home? I could see it in an instutional setting, maybe. But I can't see it winning any decor awards. I like modern, but this is just fugly to me. That said, I do like their "Supreme" design.
This is horrible. It would be at home in a lab or in an ME operating room. Much to clinical for a kitchen. Although it might work in a frat house.
I don't know, I kind of like it. I live in a loft and have and island with a cooktop, this isn't much different. I picture it against a backdrop of floor to ceiling glass and rich wood cabinets, maybe with some open shelving, etc. to offset the starkness of it.
I picture it with a corpse being autopsied. If I could afford rich wood cabinets I wouldn't put this anywhere near them. But that's just me.
Corian sucks.
Bravo, Henrietta.
I love it for my loft studio. I wanted to put in a kitchenette but they all look so boring and boxey. This gels with the look of my studio worktables. Too bad that I probably can't afford it.
Didn't I see this on CSI??
Looks like something that gives high colonics...
It's not homey but i love it and would put it in my home any day. I hate clutter and love stream-lined modern. Anything simple, sleek, and airy, i dig. There are so many other things you could add to the design and whats around it to make things more plush and warm.
Of course in a studio it looks like a lab!
Wow -- no storage under the counter, and thanks to the design, you can't put cupboards over the whole counter either. Just what every small apartment needs: less kitchen storage.
i'm a very visual person and admit i get the creeps looking at this unit.. i'm reminded of the jeremy irons movie 'dead ringers'. oh, dear. and brava to wende in phoenix!
I think is simply an incredible good design.
