The open floorplan of the loft, once used for shipbuilding, could translate to alienating, too-big spaces. Instead, though, Pasanella and Robertson have created "rooms" that feel distinct and inviting while retaining the warehouse's original loftiness. Case in point: both the kitchen shown up top and the living area above are exposed to one big loft space. But elements like the cabinetry, drapes, and rugs make each "room" its own. This home is certainly a lesson in defining spaces with tools other than walls!
