The Frame House Kitchen

0302_frame1.jpg

This kitchen instantly pulls you in with its mix of old and new, warm and simple. Designed by Gloria Frame, it's the kitchen in her historic log house. Some of our favorite things about the room:

  • The cabinets. They're made of salvaged wood that was painted a dark color. While the paint was still wet, Gloria scorched the doors using an acetylene torch. Whoa, not sure we'd try that one on our own but the outcome is beautiful.
  • The flagstone floor. It gives the room a sense of age and solidity.
  • The stainless steel mixed in. It's a clean balance to the room's more rustic finishes.
  • The layout: with one straight shot of cabinets alongside an island, there is no wasted, hard-to-reach cabinet or counter space in this kitchen.

I love a rustic kitchen that isn't all Ye Olde with baskets and dried flowers everywhere. This is gorgeous.

It's darker than I'd want my kitchen to be, but it's gorgeous. I love how they managed to make it rustic yet modern.
