According to the Mater site, this lamp will be available in black or white in early 2009.
I love the proportions and the shape of this lamp. You almost can see how the circle gets complete - negative the shade, positive the use of space.

Why do lamps that look like this always cost so much money---I would think they would be cheaper to make then most lamps. Are they trying to keep it exclusive just to keep the price high, knowing that a lot of high end modern people will buy it no matter what? Have to have the look or die people.

I love the look of this lamp. There is only one problem. The shape will be lost at night when you turn the lamp on. Because the shade is solid and black, you will only see the base and the pool of light it creates. The shade will just blend in with the darkness of the rest of the room.
But it will look great during the day.
