Are those the ones that take the special "plug-in" type flourescent bulbs?

They could be for a linear incandescent with a S14S base.

Take the pix to your local hardware store - they should be able to identify what you need.

My vote is linestra S14d base. Here's a wall sconce that uses the same bulb as a point of comparison.

Thirding the linestra S14d. I have the sconces that dave from YL links to and the receptor looks the same.
