A little sleuthing pays off. I spent so much time on the
5.5 Designers site this week. Though I was a bit disappointed in the lackluster response to the
Chair Crutch, I can't imagine that people wouldn't get the appeal of the
Plug Light. And it is for sale at
La Corbeille (along with the coat hangar and
sugar handles)! Don't click too fast...
the plug only fits European outlets!

Ah yes, La Corbeille...they exhibited at Maison Objet in September and had this 5.5 stuff!! 5.5 was also exhibiting a huge range of porcelain at Maison-Objet but nothing earth-shattering. I think the 5.5 tea cup handle shaped sugar was posted on Design Sponge earlier this week.
Sorry but this is a hideously bad idea. As if the exposed line voltage contacts aren't bad enough, who in their with mind wants to be forced to look at a plug-strip? Not me. At home I don't want to see wires ever, anywhere.
This goes against my cord-hiding tendencies.
It's kind of interesting - and I'll conceded that it would actually be very useful in a hotel room... but the fact that it's European only makes it pretty much a "so what?!" for me.
If it's not actually even an option for the vast majority of AT homes, I don't think it meets the bar of innovative/attractive/witty or "wow" enough to warrant inclusion here.
If you're going to show love for 5.5, their "seat prosthesis" (sorry, can't get the link to work - but you can find it under products/seats) is a 100x more fabulous design than this lamp/plug business.
