Great idea but pretty damn expensive. At $25 a pop (NPI), my guess is that beautiful balloon chandelier will run you > $3000.

I'm a-thinkin' that with a string of LED holiday lights and a bag of balloons, you could build the chandelier for less than the cost of two designboom lamps.

= 75 lit up balloons which would cost 2250 (25 5 Shipping) for a "designer version" for 20 bucks. Ridiculous how much people will spend for the gadgetry of "designer" products.

In a cluster like that, it looks really pretty and unique, but like southernwayfarer said, that's an expensive chandelier that's only gonna burn 100 hours. What happens when the balloon pops or deflates? I don't know about you, but most latex balloons have gone flat on me after a week or so. Or they get that weird powdery waxy look to them. If the balloon portion were made of some sort of sturdy material, I'd be more inclined to look into this. However, for $25 each (plus shipping) I think I'm gonna go with wende in phoenix's idea if I ever feel like having balloon lights and if I do, I'm going with more exciting colors.
