NY Good Questions: How To Wire These Lamps in Sequence?

1.14lamp.jpgHello AT,

I bought two of the Ikea Gyllen wall lamps and want to hang them horizontally over my bed, but I'd like to wire them in sequence and use just one plug to plug them into the switched outlet.

Anyone have any idea how to do this?

I thought I saw a sign at the store that said that they could be wired together, but of course I can't remember the specifics. Any help appreciated.

Thanks! Kathleen

You could just get an outlet cube (they usually have spots for three items to plug into it). You can get them at hardware stores, and they run less than $2. You can plug both into the cube and then plug the cube into a single outlet. I've used them to easily join two lamps together so I can them plug the cube into an Ikea dimmer switch. The benefit is that if you want to separate the two you can do so easily.

Thanks streepyj - not a bad idea, but the switched outlet is on the right side of the bed and I fear that both cords won't reach it. I'll give it a whirl and see if it works, though.
