Dear AT,
I bought this wonderful light fixture at a thrift store years ago.
My poor husband was moving some furniture and walked into it (ouch!).
As I was trying to figure out how to fix it, a guest broke the second shade.
Everyone has told me to throw it away - that there is no way to fix it, but I love it and I just cannot believe that it is over!
I have taken it down, so as not to injure anyone else, but I think there must be a resource for replacement shades?
If anyone has any leads/suggestions, I would appreciate it! Thanks! Nicole

Here in the centre stands the glass. Light
Is the lion that comes down to drink. There
And in that state, the glass is a pool.
Ruddy are his eyes and ruddy are his claws
When light comes down to wet his frothy jaws

I've found replacement shades for my light fixture on ebay.

Priscilla, check schoolhouseelectric.com and rejuvination.com. They make period fixtures and shades. Its a beautiful fixture and worth saving, even if the new shades are exact...you can always get 3 new shades that are similar and from the same period. Good luck!

You can:
Hire a woodworker or a ceramic artist make new shades
Hire a glassblower remake the shade
Buy readymade canvas lampshades to replace it
Make a wire frame and run natural twine through it for a danish look
Give it to me so I can do these things. It would look great above my dining table :)

Can we get rid of the first comment? Or at least truncate it? I'm a bit overwhelmed, and the commenter might even be mortified that happened.
Good luck Nicole, sorry I don't have anything to add. I fully support your desire to keep your light fixture! I like the shape.

All good suggestions. But please keep it in storage until you have a ceiling high enough to support it without people cutting their heads bashing into it.

Rejuvenation.com has both reproductions of period shades and fixtures, and also some originals (antiques), so if they don't have a new version of what you need, it might be worth emailing them the picture and asking if they have an original.

try Clarity Lighting on the UES... they repair lamps and light fixtures and can probably order you new shades

This happened to me (lamp fell) and I replaced the shade with a lovely blown glass shade I removed from an IKEA lamp.
My old hardware is lovely, the IKEA glass is lovely, you would never know! $19 fix!

It's important to know the diameter of the opening of your glass where it attaches to the fixture (sometimes referred to as the fitter size. Rejuvenation or schoolhouse electric should have something that comes close. By all means DO NOT get rid of the fixture-there's always a solution.

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. It seems that there is hope still!

Actually, what MIGHT be fun (and I wouldn't put it past them to be able to) is to implore (beg) those Rejuvenation people to take the fixture, and make a mold of the one that's NOT broken and make a matching set of all three! And maybe they might make a mold of the fixture itself and if the patent/copyright isn't still in play, maybe they could make/sell more of them on their site? I might be dreaming, but I bet they "have the technology".

I did the same thing, on nearly the exact fixture. I even posted it on AT back then , a few months ago. I did as everyone has suggested ---ebay, replacements, danish modern message boards, etc. NADA!!
so I made lemonade from those lemons--took the 2 remaining shades and had them made into single swag lights. It was a bit expensive and worse, oh yes I did, I broke one of them way too quickly. That glass is so fragile.
that said, rejuvenation's hewitt is the closest I found..

and I can send you pics of what it looks like a s a single swag...and who made it for me.....g'luck!!
