Phantom Lamp from CB2

12-12-phant3.jpgWe've been going back to CB2 a lot lately in preparation for our NY review and our estimation has been rising. The shop is full of very useful design pieces that slip - chameleon-like - into different style homes at very good prices.

This lamp is a case in point. The Phantom Lamp is a generous, elegant combination of glass and linen shade that gets the job done for under $100.

Downsides? As well being on the wide side, meaning that it eats up real estate on tables and won't fit everywhere, the glass gathers dust and will need cleaning from time to time to retain its shiny image.

Click below for a few more pics of the lamp in our home...

That lamp is on my Christmas wishlist, which I emailed to my boyfriend... with links, to eliminate any confusion and error. :-)

Maxwell, is that a bottle of Rescue Remedy I see on the table next to the keys and wallet? Good stuff!

I love these types of hollow glass lamps -- but I have never gotten one because that dangling cord looks awkward and sloppy to me. I wish there was something they could do about that. In catalogs, sometimes, they actually photograph these without the cord (or Photoshop it out).

This looks quite similar to a lamp that IKEA once sold a couple of years back, or sold for 2-3 years perhaps but not now in any case.

What I liked about it was that it came in red and blue glass base with a similar, but whiter shade with a flat piece that laid over the top of the shade to shield it from glare and eyes, yet let heat escape and was only $24.99 if I recall right.

I wished I'd gotten one at the time, in red for my old cube at my old employer or for a shelt I now have in my apartment where it'd have been perfect for. Oh well.

I always wanted to find a way to plug the hole for the cord to turn it into a fishbowl. a fish in a lamp! it would be rad.

ciddyguy, I have that ikea lamp in red and love love love it. I gives off a great warm glow and the red glass is just lovely, i don't think anyone would ever guess it's a $25 lamp.

Hmmm, does the Bach's bottle mean that there's a four-footed addition to the Gillingham-Ryan family?

I really like this lamp, but would LOVE it if it came in colors.

ebrown,
This is the first time it's actually been revealed. See the "new family home" posts here:
