Stone Light by Oluce

06.27.olucestonei.jpg

Outdoor lighting that rocks. The Stone Light was designed by Marta Laudani & Marco Romanelli for Oluce.

06.27.olucestone2.jpgThey're made of polyethylene and come in a variety of shapes, just like natural stones. But unlike natural stones, these fluorescent lamps give off a nice diffuse light.

We think they look lovely scattered through the landscape above.

Available for purchase at Y Lighting.

Fake plastic stones are tacky. In fact, almost any fake, plastic thing is ugly and tacky, especially when it tries to imitate nature. I just don't understand the fascination with this kind of junky stuff.

They look like props from a bad sci-fi movie.

I like this form of lighting. In the right setting would look very cool indeed. Only if they were solar powered, it would so much more attractive...

I would love these.
But then I love the strange and somewhat outcast items I find.

They aren't cheap plastic - they're Italian glass.

>$300 each?? Plus any coolness will evaporate unless you have the cords well hidden.

They should be cordless with LEDs. People are going to want to pick them up.

DerekMorr, polyethylene is not glass.

Ah, I was getting these confused with another stones of glass, also sold by ylighting, which are made of opaline glass.
