If you are into Moderne and want to kick your apartment up a notch, check out Zia Priven's luxe pendants.
Based in Brooklyn and catering mainly to the trade, husband-and-wife team Marcia Zia and Paul Priven have introduced a new line of pendants that feature a great drop of pure crystal right through the center.
Though you will need to have a super high ceiling to enjoy these, the shape, color and light are extraordinary and the idea is unique.

Stunners.
How much do they cost? I love it!
Saw them in DUMBO at Brooklyn Designs (looks like the pictures are from that event). They are great and if I remember correctly run about $3k each. They are custom made so you can spec all the elements. Would love to see one with a rectangular shade over a dining table with the center beads pooling on the table, almost like a centerpiece.
I also remember seeing them at Brooklyn Designs, and remember thinking a)that you would need a high ceiling and b)that if you put them up that high, you end up seeing the bulb and ruining the effect(normally the shade shields the lamp so you see only the glowing beads). Maybe in a stairwell?
What if the cascade of beads actually descended through a square table that also had a hole cut out of the middle?! That could be amazing.
It would prevent you from seeing directly across to other diners, so perhaps in an entry/lobby?
