Passing by the Patyka store on Broome street yesterday we were arrested by their beautiful use of this accent color to enliven the whole store (which is white). Amidst recession gloom, we predict that people will be getting great solace from rich, bright colors like this (painting is cheap) and so we took a snap and called them to find out what it was....

The folks from the store were super friendly and told us that the white walls were done in Farrow and Ball "Shaded White," but the accent color needed to match their brand logo color so they went offroad. Taking a Patyka box to the hardware store they were able to get help in copying the color with Behr paints.

Did they have a name or a number? No. Apparently the store matched the color of their sample and it's pretty darn close. And having matched the color on the fly, it gave us confidence that you can do the same. Get a sample of the color and take it to the paint store. You will succeed.

It reminds me of BM's Sulfur Yellow

I love the color, but I'm really not a huge fan of big blank walls. I think I'd like to see maybe a wall sconce or a mirror to break it up a bit.

That's a beautiful light fixture in front of the acecnt wall.
