Look! A Small-Space Antique

0409_albertmlock.jpg

There's a little folding rocking chair that's been in the family longer than me. It's a design by Albert M. Lock & Son and it folds smoothly into a compact plane for storage. Unfolded, it's a comfortable and inviting chair...

I never really thought of it as a small-space solution, but now I'm considering putting the charming old chair to use in our little apartment. Do you have any antique pieces that were pioneers of today's small space solutions? (The rocker pictured here is not my family's, but is very similar. This one's from Canada's Archives and Collections Society).

I don't know if it's pioneer-like or even an old idea but I have a gorgeous folding chair step ladder.

It's dark wood and really pulls my living room together.
