Look!: Air Rug by Paola Lenti

Want to do something different underfoot? Just back from a client's apartment, we got to run around on this newly installed runner, the Air Rug, which is a very cool indoor/outdoor rug made of wide, flat braids that are hand tufted. We took a huge panorama pic below...

Designed by Paola Lenti, we bought it through Karkula, and it took a ice age to finally arrive. Some things ARE worth waiting for and this one perfectly hits the spot by providing a stunning, varied and soft texture that also contrasts with the dark brown floors. Below is the closeup view.

How well does it clean up? I have visions of things getting caught inside the loops of those braids...

it's lovely but i would imagine the loops would flatten when repeatedly walked on? that would make me crazy! i fluff and shake out my bathmat to keep it fluffy and that's only 17"x24"!

Karkula moved out of the Meatpacking District and is now located at 48 Walker Street for those of you running this weekend to purchase this really cool rug.

I wonder how it feels underneath a bare foot? Looks very nice, that's for sure.

I have to say, I was a little underwhelmed by the close up, but then I saw the big picture and I LOVE this thing! I'm not a big rug person at all, but this one has such an interesting texture without being too zany.

anyone know how difficult these are to clean? i have a short haired dog, and if i get her to not play with it, i have a similar rug im waiting to lay down. i figure all the little "hairs" get sucked up in vacuums tho...any pet/fluffy rug advice?
