Inspiration is everywhere. Picking up Patagonia's newest catalog last night, we we're impressed with how it is changing to become an even more powerful communicator of Patagonia's active green lifestyle products, but also particularly by this picture, which instantly gave us ideas for wallpaper patterns based on the rich vintage colors and the alternating holes and brick striping pattern...
It gave us an idea as well for a new column, which would feature simple photographs of great patterns, whether they are in wallpaper, tile or fabric. By recording and collecting all the inspiration we find around us, it would provide a rich library for those times when you have the opportunity to buy, install or use pattern in any way and need great ideas. Keep a look out for it in the next few weeks as we get it together.
Here's the caption from the great pic above:
"Strung out in a sea of holes, Timmy O'Neill explores the wilderness of the City of Angels, California" - Pic: Jeff Cunningham
This sounds great! You already have a Top 10 wall products sources, right? Keep it, but I love this, too.

This is so irresponsible of Patagonia: there's no excuse not to be using protection on such a route.

Um last I checked, Patagonia just sponsored people like this, they didn't tell them how to do their sport. Don't blame them for what this guy is doing, they didn't tell him to do it.

I had no idea that people were interested in climbing here. Awesome.
and yeah, that's pretty irresponsible of the climber.

guys, that seriously looks like an easy climb. I'd feel very confident that particular climber is in no more danger than doing most things. Those are roomy holes which are completely stable, and he's a pro . I couldn't do it because I'm afraid of heights like that, but I'm guessing this guy doesn't have that issue. Very pretty building pattern.

Patagonia could choose not to run the ad encouraging irresponsible behaviour. It's like a car commercial that shows people drinking&driving: maybe it's safe if you're a pro, but what about the rest of us?
