Spotted by a reader at Anthropologie on West Broadway (where they don't like photos taken - this was sent by cellphone), this is a creative and fun idea for lighting up and decorating a room. We could see this playful approach working in a nursery, hallway or even dining room. Imagine really dark globes in a bunch like this, lit from within. (Thanks, Whizzer!)

anthro has great displays! the one in chicago has had up a similar cluster of hanging red chinese lanterns, in various shapes and colors, some with designs, some lit and some not. looks fantastic.

Cultural Intrigue makes some very nice ones. I don't think paper is the right look for me, but as I endlessly search for the right lampshade, I have the Flower Power one. The Kyoto one has been tempting me too.
Gosh Maxwell, you're right, this is super creative. Great find Whizzer! :) Also a great BUDGET option and also a fun party option... I can see these in the middle of a white tent at a wedding.

Anthropologie does do great displays. I still remember wall hangings made out of paint chips and those little ring things you can get at Staples. I still think about where that could be used.
I love how entering anthropologie is like entering another world. It makes me smile.
