Look! Curbed & Racked Tour the Red Hook IKEA

I'm totally jealous! While I was making the bus journey to Elizabeth (more on that, later) correspondents from Curbed and Racked were checking out the soon-to-be-completed, more than 300,000-square-feet, IKEA in Red Hook, Brooklyn. While I am most excited that the water front store will be accessible by ferry/water taxi, they've compiled a collection of thoughts and images on the respective sites...

i love the grounds. i was hesitant at first to enjoy ikea coming to red hook, but i think it's pretty sweet. look how nice they treated the grounds and history. not bad for a big store. if walmart moved in there it wouldn't have kept any remnant of the area's former life. i love the beard st. cobblestones peeking through.

Woo hoo! Looks good, and free ferry service, too.

Now I just have to decide whether I want to shlepp a Poang chair from the Port Authority, or from the South Street Seaport.
