Look!: DIY Marble Shelf for Indoor Garden

Since it's Gardening Month here at AT, we're been on the lookout for bits of urban greening. Last week we went to a new restaurant in our neighborhood, Hundred Acres, which sported these slim marble shelves with plants on them...

While the metal L bracket has to be hidden by pots because it's not too attractive (install it up, not down), the carrara marble shelf is lovely and a great choice. Carrara marble in this shape is affordable and easy to find as "marble window sills." They are also frequently stocked items in hardware stores, lumber yards or Home Depots.

Finished off with plants and tea light candles at eye level (when sitting), these shelves really completed the room nicely.

If you go to the lumber section of Home Depot or Lowes you can get good lengths/widths of this in the section that has the marble thresholds. I have pics/prices over here on my blog:
