Look! Glitter Pumpkins on Charles Street

11-5-glitter-pumpkins.jpg

Fall Color! Walking through the West Village yesterday, we spotted these sparkly glitter pumpkins on a stoop (they were hard to miss). Someone on Charles Street has embraced Martha Stewart's idea that Maxwell re-posted last week...

Actually, I'm pretty sure these came from the Ovando flower shop around the corner on Bleecker, so the Ovando people must've been chanelling their inner Martha.

And btw, that's SJP's stoop.

I was just going to post that!

I walked by the other day and smiled thinking of SJP glittering it up at the kitchen table. But alas, I bet these were brought in.

What is glitter made out of, by the way? Is it metal? Plastic? Shiny paper? Or is glitter on the periodic table of elements and I just never noticed?

It's so cool that even stars have it... the Celebrity Babies Blog has a picture of Sarah Jessica's front stoop and it has a lovely purple glittery pumpkin on it!

I can't believe I'm supposed to know who SJP is. I suppose she's an important person in NYC?

SJP stands for Sarah Jessica Parker, star of Sex and the City. She and her husband, actor Matthew Broderick (War Games) apparently live there. The cool thing about them is that they just go around doing things like regular people who live in NY do, not acting like celebrities.

Yes, we all have fabulous glittered pumpkins on the stoops of our spacious brownstones.

Matt--

I think there are two types of glitter, glass (generally German in origin) and something that I am guessing is plastic.

Martha generally espouses the German variety.
