apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Look! Green Within White Pops the Space

Chicago Pictures (199).jpg

Key lime? Visiting others is the best way to learn new tricks and get out of your own design ruts.

Brenda and Dave took their small top floor apartment (thats the inside of the roof that is slanting down), and painted it white with strong shots of color in the "inbetween" spaces. This strong green is on one wall between the kitchen and the living room...

It has bookshelves and two lights on it, but otherwise it is an art gallery perfect green wall.

Personally, our rut is that we always go with warm colors in living spaces. This green is more cool than warm, but it is exciting, edgy and fun in a space that wasn't before Brenda and Dave moved in. (Thanks, B&D!) MGR

Oooh, that green is yummy. I've used it on a wall before, and plan to do so again.

I used to think of it as my Happy Wall, and I'm overdue to have a Happy Wall once more.

I painted one wall in my bedroom green and left the other 2 white. One wall is brick. I love the result.

That looks lovely. Don't suppose you could tell us the actual paint color and number used so we know what to ask for in Janovich.... Is it actually called "perfect green?"

I've recently been obsessed with tuquoise walls. Every time I see an antique, or even anything just old and brown or gold, I think about it against a turquoise wall and I see that it could actually look beautiful.

Ralph Lauren paint has a great array of really clear, Caribbean/swimming pool turquoises...
And I also love the idea of having an accent wall like this that maybe gets repainted every season... warmer and cozier in the winter months, clearer and brighter in Spring... a nice way to "take risks" with color, knowing that you're only committing for a few months.

Oooh -- I like the green! I have a long bright red "happy wall" in my studio. Anything white pops nicely against them, and everyone gets a nice pink healthy glow when they enter my house.

Patrick -- maybe you could do a small-ish wall and use some of those new little pots of color. It wouldn't take as much time or effort as redoing one huge wall three times a year. You could also slowly do stripes around the place.

That's a gorgeous shade of green, but I can't imagine it would reflect well on my fair Irish skin!

Any hints on painting a wall a color that can be easily covered (rental apartment problem)?

Nice green!!! Anyone find out the name/number of that paint color?

I sent an email to apartmenttherapy.com asking for the paint brand and exact shade but no response yet.

I'll post it here if/when I get a reply.

Still think it's divine.

So - it's in the works. Patience, friends. I promise to post it when Maxwell follows up.
