Look! Industrial Garage Lights in a Restaurant

6-24-lights1.jpg

Grabbing lunch in this restaurant on Lafayette street, Soho Park, we loved the decor which made reference to the fact that it used to be a parking garage/mechanic shop...

Looking up you can see that the lights are on thick black wires that pull down out of retractable housings. At the end is an edison light. This is a great DIY idea for someone who wants to have a funky, adjustable pendant lamp or pendant series in their dining room.

This is cool- but the best garage/gas station transformation into an eatery I have seen is The Shop in Spokane, Wa. It's still got the old industrial fixin's. These lights look pretty new. I'm looking for a picture of the inside...can't find one!

they had these types of lights strung up across a parking lot during June's LA Art Walk. It was so good looking. I don't have overhead lighting in my living room, and would want to try something like this, but i think the drape of the cord accross the lot made it look great.

soho park was built new/not reused - it was built in a lot where they tore a building down a couple years ago.

The uni-strut that was used to attach the lights is very versatile in industrial lighting applications. I used some galvanized uni-strut to mount my low voltage track.

If you like this look Barbuto in Meatpacking? is a great example too. It used to be a taxi garage.

I think because Chipotle is so commonplace a lot of people may overlook their decor. I still gawk at some of the stuff that they do with conduit and corrugated steel.

soho park would like to think it used to be a parking garage. it wasnt, but you can park next door. another example in nyc of building new instead of re using...

Everything looks so brand new, not sure how they could say it "used to be" anything, unless they mean the lot had another function before the new construction.

That being said, I don't see why it matters if they built something new instead of reusing. Did I miss something?
