We can't stop looking at it. The Jielde lamp was designed in France in 1950 by Jean-Louis Domecq. The design comes in a wall-mount and desk lamp version.
The Jielde lamps are still in production today, though we only find them at Inside Modern Living, where they are available to the trade and retailers. Scant other sightings include here and here.
Auto in the meatpacking district sells the new ones in fabulous colors.
the desk lamp version is available at the Conran Shop on 59th/1st ave. very cutesy.
I have the mentioned desk version (purchased at Conran's); cutesy, yes, but also extremely sturdy and well-made. I am now convinced I need the wall-mounted style as well.
Here's a great Jielde we found a few years back. Has an extended arm with all the original fittings. jielde lamp ( get back inc ) I love these!!!!
