Look!: Laura Shares Her Makeover

Wanna see the power of your comments? Laura sent in a question about her bedroom and we all responded (53 comments!). Now she's made the change and one more is to come. It looks lovely! This is from Laura:

I posted this “good question” a while ago and was hoping that you could put up an after picture for folks to see? The blank canvas behind my bed will soon be covered with green and white flower-ed wallpaper.

Thanks AT! Laura

Bravo. It looks so peaceful and well-coordinated. Can't wait to see the wallpaper...

I would hang the wallpaper/canvas a little lower, maybe even two- three inches- I have tow green pillows with a pattern that almost matches the detail of your headboard but smaller scale!!

Nice makeover. The green wall behind the bed is very calming and really unifies the space. I also like the new bedsheets and pillow - its a lot cleaner and simpler - less "busy" than the older one.

It looks like you got new rounder shades for the lamps - very nice.

I agree with Brian - I would hang the canvas lower. Its too high up and its doing funky things with the space - almost lifts the eye up too high.

Lovely! I agree that the canvas should be hung a few inches lower though. Would create better balance and eliminate the "float" syndrome.

i agree on lowering the canvas, that was my only suggestion for change. it looks lovely! i love the green color on the wall and silky look of the pillow on the bed. congratulations!

It's really amazing how much is gained by that vase with branches.

I'd keep the canvas blank. I love how it mirrors the negative space in your headboard.

The change of the dresser knobs adds just the right touch. Very nice !

Love the new lamp shades too.

And...yes on lowering the canvas a bit

I like it... though, it needs a tad bit more color. Think about putting some colored fabric on behind your headboard. You can do either the entire headboard or sections of it (like the two main squares and the corresponding side squares).

You can do this by mounting it onto thin masonite (via spray adhesive) and then mounting it onto your headboard (small screws).

If you like the idea of the small squares of fabric and want to change out the fabric (ie to match your sheets), you can mount the fabric onto thick artboard. Then, drill some small holes in your headboard and fill them with strong magnets. Then, place the cardboard squares on the back and place corresponding magnets to mount.

Okay... I'm getting a bit overzealous.

Nice! You politely listened to our advice and then made the space your own. Bravo! (It's quite calming and much better than the deep red that I suggested!)

it looks amazing, and i bet it will look even better once the canvas is covered.
it's so nice to get the 'after' story to a 'good question'.
