In the realm of last week's link to the
Casino Carpet Gallery, the
Transportation Fabric Flickr Set that has been making the rounds in the blogosphere makes a visual record of the wild and crazy patterns and colors used to disguise dirt on the seats of buses and trains. Lots of London buses and some interesting patchwork after the jump...
this made me giggle...when my fiance was in the hospital he made me tape up big 8.5x11 color copies of pics of the carpeting at The Electric Umbrella in Epcot (burger joint) all over the walls.
I noticed how in the UK the train upholstery matched the patriotic blues and reds of the British flag. It's hard to find blue and red patterned fabric here, even though our own flag is also (in different proportions) blue and red (and white).
This made me laugh too - I see some of those patterns every time I get on a bus here in sunny Yorkshire! You can spot the British ones right away cos they're so awful! Glad its not just me who notices them...they're sort of sweet in a compellingly hideous kinda way! And Monarda, I don't know if its a patriotic thing, but I always wondered about the colours too - surely no one actually got paid for choosing them...!
P.S. AT should come to the UK!
Oh, someone else writing from Yorkshire *waves*
My mum once got to choose the seat fabric for a whole line of buses...
