Far from ivy, these walls are the work of French botanist/designer, Patrick Blanc. I stumbled across these designs in a recent Business Week article. The most amazing feature of these elaborate plant walls are the many varieties of plants representing unique textures and colors. Plant walls are made of a rigid plastic structure with a pocketed plastic felt-like covering. the room/designer in the bottom right picture was just featured in a magazine i bought. i can't remember which one though. either dwell or cottage living.
