My new Home Depot ceiling light

As I was renovating my kitchen, I scouted out a few vintage style ceiling lights at Olde Good Things that caught my eye. Seems right now they’re all the rage in NYC, I recently spotted high end versions at the new restaurants, General Greene, and Bonita (see below), but three cheers, Home Depot is selling copies for $4 - $30 that are a breeze to install!...

By the way, if you haven’t seen the mosaic tile at Bonita, in Williamsburg or Ft. Greene, check it out; it’s by a local artist, and would offer a beautiful accent to any kitchen.

I’m always looking for an affordable resource for pendant lamps and chandeliers. Do any AT-ers have resources you want to share?

Wow, what a great little kitchen! I love that school house fixture in there, it's perfect. Rejuvenation has great pendants and reproduction lighting.

Not as cheap as the Home Depot prices you quoted but still within the realm of affordable.

That's called a schoolhouse lamp. I didn't find this post very informative.

Yes yes fine... your light is very nice, I'm putting one in my own kitchen -- but your backsplash, oh my! Please talk about that. And go ahead and talk about your counter, too if you don't mind. Your kitchen is shaping up nicely, good job.

I'd like to know about the counter, too!

The counter looks like like mine, based on the matte appearance. Silestone Leather finish... Am I right?

Like everything about the room but the light! I would like something a bit more new and stylish going on at the ceiling level---something with sparkle or perhaps a thin, black framed, white glass box. IT would help put interest up above, like you have on the counter and stove.
Little ribbons---get a life! You must be a school teacher.

Please share all that you know on:

1.) your counter tops. What are they? How much were they? etc.

2.) Your stove top and oven. What brand? Thoughts on how user friendsly it's been so far, etc.

I'm doing research on our kitchen renovation and I believe I just found our countertop and stove/oven.

Thanks!

Great kitchen and I love the light although I think you need to add back the extension as it gets lost as a flushmount.

BACKSPLASH - yes, it's marble (Carara .5" x 2"). Quite affordable at $10/sq foot. It's from a place in sunset park. I don't know the name but their number is 718.859.9644.

LIGHT - keep in mind you need a flush to the ceiling light so your cabinets can open. I'm looking to add some flair with the hallway ceiling light.

COUNTER - Slate ... you'll need to ask my contractor, Marvin (THE BEST, honest, ontime and has ideas) 718.541-2059.

STOVE - GE Profile ... it's been great.

OVEN - Fridgidaire ... great as well.

Thanks for all your posts.
Cheers,
Amy

I have to replace my kitchen light. It looks like death in here. My countertops are pretty ugly too...

Good lightings add more beauty to any part of the house but mostly to the kitchen and bathroom. Sometimes it creates illusions, because it can make small spaces look big. I found more lightings design from http://www.bathroomandkitchenguide.com/Kitchen-Lighting/ check it for more ideas.
