Look! The Regina Still Rules

Inspired by our neighbor's vintage vacuum, we popped a pic of it last night in the hallway. With all the debate over which is the BEST vacuum, it is heartening to see that these oldies really do last a long time. And the Regina has a great history:

Invented by Ward Leathers and "introduced in 1945 by the Regina Corporation, 'There were many companies that developed the broomstick style vacuums but Regina produced the most popular model of its time."

We particularly like the etoile decor on the upright bag and masterful powerful assemblage of controls down below. We also like the fact that Regina, meaning "queen", directly appeals to the womenfolk who are weilding this lofty tool. This is certainly a very feminine appliance. they don't make them like they used to (But Regina still does make 'em - they're owned by Oreck).

"toile de jouy" is what that stuff is; "etoile" = star.

I have my great-grandmother's old light blue Electrolux with the long snaking hose ... and it is still going. I think it has visited the Electrolux store twice in its history. Guests always comment on it when a mess is made.
