Antiques. Oddities. Curious Goods. Uncommon Objects, an antiques market in Austin, Texas reminded us how much we miss parusing antique and thrift stores. When we visited the market on South Congress last week, we were amazed that Amy Sedaris hadn't snatched up the majority of the storeGrecian styled ice buckets, biology teaching aids, and turned-wood candle holders were some of our favorite pieces...

I'll second how great this store is! I loved how they arranged things by color in some of the stalls and there's definitely a very eclectic mix of objects there. They have a lot of really uncommon stuff - I thought it was very cool that they had a bunch of elementary school science related stuff including many small plastic fetuses at different stages of growth...definitely a great place to visit.

AT in ATX! You should have had a special gathering for all of your Austin readers.
Uncommon Objects is an amazing place. Vintage modern finds can also be found all around town, but especially along North Loop.
Of course, if one is willing to venture beyond the bubble of Austin into the wilds of Texas, there are lots of really amazing and cheap vintage finds in the little towns. However, I find that most vintage in Texas trends toward the Shabby Chic spectrum of taste.
