OFELIA Rouched Throw from IKEA

6-12-ofelia-throw-2.jpgOne of our favorite finds from our tour through IKEA Brooklyn was the OFELIA throw/blanket. It made many appearances throughout the store — in various showrooms and model homes and it always caught our eye. The unique texture reminded us of the cloud-like pleated bedding from West Elm or the Cirrus Duvet from Anthropologie but at a guilt-free IKEA price...

The OFELIA throw is part of an entire series of OFELIA bedding and bath textiles. It feels like a stretchy, wrinkly cheesecloth and is made from a blend of acrylic, wool and polyester. Machine washable, the OFELIA throw is available in white for $30 from IKEA.

Quite nifty indeed!

And forgive me my seamstress pendantry -- it's "ruched".

(as can be seen, the rule that one's pedantry -- not peNdantry -- is usually undermined by making a mistake in the correction holds true ;) )

Have it! Love it! I used this throw to cover an old wicker chair in my bedroom.

I have one and have been sleeping with it all summer so far. It's very light weight-- but my cat's claws get stuck in it VERy easily.

I have a shower curtain that has a similar look and I love it. Depending on the dimensions, it could look great as curtains - shower or otherwise.

I noticed this on my recent trip to the Cincinnati IKEA. I talked myself out of buying it. I think I need to go back...

Got this a few weeks ago and I love it--it's the perfect weight for summer, I think (or at least normal summer, not 12 billion degree summer). It stretches enough that I can use it as a blanket rather than a throw on my double bed; I'm not quite sure it would make it to queen.

It's very cute. I agree. And beeing Swedish I do buy some handpicked goodies at IKEA. But never something like a blanket that would go in my bed that I will have to wash regually. After two washes it would be totally destroyed. Belive me don't do it! I would instead put my money on a alpaca blanket that will last for ages! I personally hate buying new stuff. I prefer buying selected items that will last. I'm no enviromental junkie but this buying and throwing has to stop! And I'm a student so it's not like I'm wealthy or anything.
