We were tipped off to this show at the Pompidou, Charlotte Perriand, and are so grateful. Ms. Perriand was one of the creative geniuses [and sole woman] behind the Corbusier design group and responsible for the famous "racks, the chairs and the tables." This show does much to restore her reputation as both gutsy, ahead of her time and restless enough to leave Corbusier behind and move to Japan and explore the East for over ten years before returning to Europe in 1949. (another picture below)

At Le Mesturet we sat under many of these traditional wine bottle drying racks. The become more beautiful with more bottles and slightly different colors. They are chandeliers without a cause.

Here is another shape.

I am woman hear me roar!
I'm in love!

Imagine standing up to Corbu....with your top off. Bad girls rock.
An aside to summer vacationers near Lyon: You can stay in one of Corbu's unaltered, faded-but-wonderful monk-cells at La Tourette, for about 30 Euros a night. Totally magical.

Um, why do wine bottles need to be dried? I just throw mine in the recycling bin.
Have your own bottle tree:

And use recycled bottles in another way:

Who says you can't drink from the same bottle twice?
They get refilled. Many restaurants in Europe have their own house wines that they serve out of said wine bottles. Not sure if this would be useful for the home.
Doh! I was just in Paris yesterday. Oh well.
