The French traditionally like to leave nothing alone. Food is COOKED, furniture and clothes are DESIGNED, and, of course, trees are CLIPPED.
Saw this lovely chair at Matthieu Richard on the Left Bank (more info below). If you want inspiration for your own design, there are classic and hard to find furniture ideas in every window.
Mid-Century vintage is everywhere in Paris. This shop is typical of what you will see in the windows of small shops. And vintage trumps new in every case.

Hello,
I just came back from Paris last week (before the riots) and I found a huge collection of vintage furniture at Les Puces (http://www.parispuces.com/). It's a large flea market that's broken up into two areas; the dirty area and the clean area.
The dirty area is where you'll find the knock-off purses and other quality counterfeits. The clean area is literally across the street and has a lot of furniture shops carrying anything from the 17th century to the 80's. Fun.
I picked up an old knocker for my door that was from the 1800's. Also fun.
Enjoy Paris,

"Adonis San Juan" has now officially knocked "Lockhart Steele" off the top of my "Hottest Names" list.
are those leather bikinis on the mid-c chairs?
Wow, I feel honored. :-) "Lockhart Steele" is a pretty tough name to beat.
I'd like to thank my mother for that one.
BTW, the correct pronunciation of Les Puces is /le PUUS/.

Quick fix on the URL I posted earlier...

Oh, THANKS Guido... now I have all I can do to *not* picture Adonis San Juan in a leather bikini...
(kiss noise)
I just think it is funny that the Eames rcker is pointing towards the wall. I wonder who needed time-out in the corner?
The trees are "PLEACHED". That's the official term for grooming trees, particularly into squared off shapes (as seen in the photo above). Sorry, that's the landscape architect in me coming out.
Oh my God, you guys are hilarious - I was cracking up with the back and forth banter...lotta fun
Anywhooooo, I'm heading to Paris next Thursday and have been doing some vintage modern searches - thanks a ton to all your comments - I've taken notes and will make sure to check out the flea markets as well as an eBay store I came across - www.artcurial.com
Any other tips on where to go would be most appreciated.
cheers from sunny (for a change) Vancouver, Canada
