It's coming! The new IKEA Catalog 2009 made its debut yesterday at a special press preview in Red Hook, Brooklyn. IKEA showed off new product lines and colors (lots of black, white and pale pink) and we'll share some of our favorites below...

The popular BESTA shelving and storage line will be soon be available in white. This addition will be manufactured in Virginia — the first time IKEA is using a U.S. production facility.

Lots of attractive black and white bed linens in a range of patterns, styles and textures...

According to information we received at the party, the catalog will be available in stores this Monday, August 4th. We also have heard a rumor that catalogs will be distributed as a supplement to The New York Times on August 11th. Can anyone confirm this?

I feel such a sense of failure ... 2008 was the first IKEA catalog I haven't gotten in over 10 years. It just never showed up although I kept ordering it and I never went to the store last year to get one. (I usually get one in the mail, one at the store to tear pages out of.)

Ho hum ... perhaps 2009...!!!

Yeah! Besta in white! I hedged my bets and put off finishing my office hoping that this would be a new catalogue edition. Patience payed off!

Good to know that IKEA is finally producing items in the United States.

Everything is black, white, and yellow, and so not my color combination. The other day I was looking through the 2004 catalog, and really missed the cool brightness of the light wood tones, and pastel color combination they used to have.

Since Pinstripeprincess got her catalog in the mail...I'll definitely be checking my mail box in the next few days for it. This is great because I am two months into finding furniture for my new place (bedroom almost done and living room is hardly touched).

I wonder which IKEA in the DC/Baltimore Area will roll out with all the new stuff first?

flipping through my catalogue quickly for you guys... but i can't find anything about the besta coming out in white except for door fronts and the tv bench. is this an after print change? because the evidence is in the photo.

the "3 shelf" ie four cubby shelf is $80 as reference.

One thing Ikea seems to have finally figured out is what "white" actually looks like. Last time I was there a few weeks ago, they were clearing out existing inventory of some of their "white" desks for dirt cheap. Asked a rep why that was, and it was because they were replacing them all with a brighter, more true-white update. They look much better than the old muddy ikea-white.

just to complain--the new ikea plant, first one in the country, is actually in my town. the nearest ikea store--over four hours away! and they are not planning on having a factory store or anything else here.

lcg, i think i know where you're talking about, and I can't believe it either. It's within easy driving distance of us, and I feel like screaming, "What do you mean, no factory outlet?!?"

Pale pink, eh? Not sure how I feel about that as a dominant color.

I got my catalogue yesterday (Canadian edition) and it's prety lack lustre. I don't know... maybe all the AT IKEA previews made the new catalogue sort of boring....

That green upholstered bed looks absolutely terrible though. Holy... I've never seen anything so ugly.

And yeah, what's with all the baby pink? Someone leave a red sock in the wash with the whites?

I got mine in the mail yesterday as well (Canadian edition). There's a $50 off any order over $350 coupon in the back. Seems to be valid for phone orders only.

EVERY year I order the IKEA catalog.
And EVERY year, without fail, IKEA fails to send it to me, saying they've already sent my region its quota of catalogs. Which must be next to NONE since I order the catalog LONG before it comes out.

Beware Ikea, their service and quality SUCKS.. If you want cheap crap and bad service buy IKEA. Always a BIG problem with whatever I have gotten there.

To launch the catalogue here in Toronto IKEA set up a special 3,300 sq. ft. showroom on swank King Street East styled with a dozen sleek vignettes featuring the new products. See the space here http://stylenorth.ca/blog/2008/07/right-now-ikea-catalogue-launch/

Does anyone know the name/price of the table on slide 5 of the slide show? I looked through the entire catalog last night and couldn't find it.

A Brit friend of mine summed up Ikea quite perfectly:

"IKEA: just slightly disappointing."
