For the last entry in my series on Maison&Objet I have a series of photographs I’ll randomly title Interiors, which are simply a few possible ways we could combine all the cups, cupboards and chairs we’ve been looking at into an atmospheric whole. Some of these booths are by designers, others by antiques dealers, manufacturers and artisans. I’m not sure I quite have my finger on the pulse of any discernible trend, other than my favorite inky black continues its high profile, mid-tone grège has never looked better, and as always — I love the combination of old and new.

These are weird and scary.

Wow. The interiors industry appears as confused as our "Masters of the Universe" financial titans. I would suspect we are in the middle of one of those awkward transitions where none of the current ideas are really gripping people and nothing really special and new has come along yet. It reminds me of the 90's in apparel which started with bold colors and parachute pants, transitioned to flannel grunge within 2 years, before taking another 2 years to settle into the streamlined, minimalist, muted tones I think of being classic 90's.
As I don't think we could make interiors any more chaotic than the crazy quilt of colors, textures, and mismatched styles currently being employed, I would imagine our next stop will be something much more visually organized.

Say it ain't so, really?? Is this what I have to look forward to in 2009. Good thing no one has money to spend anyway.
Yuck!

I think the painting of those rabid dogs busting out of that dilapidated doghouse sums it up nicely.

The only thing that I actually liked was the teal/blue and white bedroom. Everything else was just too creepy and bizarre. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that didn't care for it.
