Ravers hit the mainstream, and boy is it getting interesting. Luminex is light-emitting fabric that is woven with plastic fiber optics. Run off of a rechargeable cell phone battery or an adapter plugged into the wall, it can be used almost anywhere your imagination might lead you, including place mats, table cloths, slipcovers or curtains.
Luminex can also be used in clothing and handbags as it is lightweight, pliable and does not heat up. You have to check out the pics on the website. Luminex is the product of a collaboration between CAEN of Italy and Stabio Textiles of Switzerland and is sold in NY through Zuzka at 37 18th street (212.260.1876). (via Metropolis)

It willbe for an experiment for my university oroject. Please contact me. Thanks
mackert eva,
Maxwell just posts these things. You have to get in touch with the manufacturer for information on it. Just click on the Luminex link and go to "contact".
Good Luck.
Mackert Eva, the information on the Luminex product can be found on the site linked through the post, at www.zuzka.com
It's fiberoptics at it's best.
You'll click on Enter at the above site, wait for it to load, click on Luminex Optical Fiber, and wait for that to load. Then you'll get a slideshow of things that Luminex has been made into.
The information you need to contact Zuzka is in the post above.
(and maxwell, you're welcome for the reminder)

Just thinking how cool this could be as a headboard fabric....
have you seen the chairs & ottomans sold at Zuzka's (the place mentioned selling luminex)? Some of thier fabrics were even used at Cirque De Soleil.
